I work part time for the Department of Conservation and am also self-employed as a fiction writer, hoping to become a published novelist one day. In my youth I also wrote poetry,a collection that was published many years ago as: "If One Can Love" (Arthur H. Stockwell Ltd) My novel "Reversal Point" has been selected (2008) for the semi-finals of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.

Being a semi-retired conservation worker, I continue to have a love of natural and historic places. In my career, my jobs have included Deputy Director of National Parks and Reserves in the Department of Lands & Survey, and Senior Land Adviser in the Department of Conservation. The outdoors still attract me for family walks, picnics and camping. I enjoy movies, reading thrillers, and practising and improving my skills as a writer. To help the community, I work periodically as a Citizens Advice Bureau volunteer. I am a member of the N.Z. Society of Authors (PEN) Inc & Treasurer to its Wellington Branch.

Gabrielle has been my wife for over 40 years. We have 7 children and 19 grandchildren. They all live in New Zealand. I've lost contact with the last of my school mates. My circle of friends come mainly from my former employment and the writing group I belonged to at one stage.
