JAMES SPADER AND RHONA MITRA JOIN THE CAST OF ABC'S "THE PRACTICE"
James Spader ("Secretary," "Crash," "Sex, Lies and Videotape") and
Rhona Mitra ("Sweet Home Alabama," "The Life of David Gale," "Gideon's
Crossing") have joined the cast of the ABC Television Network's hit
drama, "The Practice."
Spader will play Alan Shore, a complicated and ethically-challenged
lawyer, and Mitra will play Tara Wilson, a confident paralegal in her
third year of law school who is also the firm's new tough-as-nails
assistant.
The multiple Emmy Award-winning series from renowned writer/producer
David E. Kelley will be entering its eighth season this Fall. "The
Practice" has earned, in addition to its Emmys, a Golden Globe Award
for Best Drama Series, a Peabody Award, a Viewers for Quality
Television Award, an American Bar Association Silver Gavel Award and a
coveted Humanitas Award, among many others.
Newcomers Spader and Mitra will join series regulars Camryn Manheim,
who plays Ellenor Frutt, Steve Harris, who plays Eugene Young, Michael
Badalucco, who plays Jimmy Berluti, and Jessica Capshaw, who plays
Jamie Stringer.
"The Practice" was created by David E. Kelley. Mr. Kelley and Robert
Breech are executive producers. The series, which premiered on March
4, 1997, is produced by David E. Kelley Productions in association
with Twentieth Century Fox Television.

James Spader going into 'Practice'

James Spader is in final talks to join the cast of US legal drama
series 'The Practice'.
Spader is set to play the role of lawyer Alan Shore and joins the show
following the departures of key cast members Dylan McDermott and Lara
Flynn Boyle.
A publicist for TV network ABC, which shows 'The Practice', said that
Spader's character would be "complicated and ethically challenged".
It is reported that the creator of 'The Practice', David E Kelley, had
Spader in mind for the role after seeing his performance in the film
'Secretary'.
