Sigh... may there be many more Viggo movies... If you are not a Viggophile like me this movie will perhaps not be very memorable. Its greatest claim to fame is it's celebration of the horse. If you like horses you will perhaps enjoy Viggo's book The Horse is Good. Viggo plays an American cowboy Frank T. Hopkins who loses then finds himself on a journey accompanied by his
mustang Hidalgo. Due to his horsemanship Frank is invited to participate in the Ocean of Fire, competing with the finest Arabian horses and experienced racers in a grueling 3,000-mile survival race across Arabian Desert. [It is actually filmed in the Sahara in Morocco.] Although initially ridiculed about his small mustang, Frank's race ends up being about himself, his horse, survival pride and honour.
