The serious themes of alcoholism and dependency get a gloss over in this film and we end up with a Hollywood view that is sanitised without too much of the nasty stuff. Sandra Bullock plays a party girl that is not growing up. She goes on a bender, ruins her sister's wedding then crashes the limo and winds up in jail.
Her suspended sentence includes 28 days at
Serenity Glen, a rehab center amongst society's other cast-offs. She
spends her time in denial, trying to beat the system and not managing
relationships. Viggo plays an alcoholic, washed-up baseball player
that occasionally interacts with her. This film never makes it and
Viggo as the sex-obsessed baseballer makes the best of a very thin role.
