The forums have been created to provide a safe place for mutual support around issues experienced by trauma survivors working as trauma therapists, and for discussion around topics of general interest. If you have first read "About this site" (which is linked at the bottom of this page), and wish to register as a member of either forum, simply follow the instructions outlined on this page. If you experience difficulty with registering, please feel free to email me (as provided below) at:
synchrony2000@yahoo.com.au
Synchrony offers two forums (and connected chat rooms) with different degrees of security / privacy, - one Public and one Private forum, to provide flexibility for members to choose an appropriate level of privacy for different kinds of sharing or discussion :
The public forum can be read without a membership log-in, but a membership log-in is required in order to post. (A membership log-in is a user name and password combination unique to you, and registered to the forums' "Network 54" server.)
To register a new membership for the public forum please use the link provided on the forum itself (linked above).
Personal and professional anonymity in cyberspace may be of concern on any survivor or therapist forum. This main forum is potentially a very "public place", as are all such forums which allow general public access to read the discussions. The open nature of such forums always restricts our anonymity to the same degree that we may choose to disclose any potentially identifying information about ourselves. I envisage this public forum mainly as a place of connection around issues of general interest or concern. The level of personal sharing here will be determined by individual boundaries and personal circumstances, but needs to always take into account the public nature of the forum.
The private forum, called "Synchrony Retreat" requires a Synchrony Forum membership log-in as well as a separate "application" and a validated email address (an automated feature), in order to access this more highly secured forum and interact with a greater degree of assured confidentiality. This forum is intended primarily for any more personal sharing and mutual support which needs to be maintained at a higher level of privacy. For further information about the additional security features of the private forum please follow the link at the bottom of the Synchrony Public Forum page to see Network54's policy and safety features for private forums (the best technology currently allows for).
To register for the Private Forum & Chat Room (Synchrony Retreat), first register a Synchrony forum membership log-in (as if for the public forum) and then proceed to follow the steps from the above link (The Private Forum..) and please do email me with any queries.
The forums are intended primarily for survivor therapists. A "survivor therapist" is defined as any helping professional (social worker, psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist etc) who is a trauma survivor and who is currently working professionally, is in training to work or has previously worked, with trauma survivor clients. Therapists who do not personally see themselves as "wounded healers" but who have a professional interest in dual hat issues and are able to interact supportively (such as paralegals working against mental health discrimination and therapists advocating politically on behalf of all survivors) are also warmly welcome to contribute from their related perspectives on the Public Forum and Publicly accessible Chat Room.
