This House Let me build this house with love, At the bidding of God s Word; Let it be no common hovel But a dwelling of the Lord
Let me build it on the Rock, That is, the Rock of Christ; Let its walls be our protection, And its windows be our Light
May we sit around the fireplace At a table set for friends; May I come here when I m weary, May I rest when labour ends.
O little house that I have built, May you watch my happy hours; May you comfort me in sorrow And receive my gathered flowers.
No less than all God s People, I, too, can offer this; No less than the grandest Temple My little house be His.
