I am a writer of spiritual
poetry living alone with my eccentric cat in suburban Haberfield. Although
I became Franciscan tertiary at seventeen, I never considered myself an
apprentice religious. It was the humanism of Francis rather than his
humble obedience or penitential asceticism that I admired in him. To this
day my heroes are found among the artists and poets rather than the
Saints. When writing of Jesus I increasingly present His tenderness and
compassion rather than His holiness and righteousness. Sr. Giles (C) 2006 Edited 11/04/2007 |
