Although Red Bull did not know it they inadvertently became the unofficial sponsor of this long weekends kiting excellence. After 2 days of hard core kitesurfing the Red Bull girls Lauren and Sophie rocked up with our price money for the weekends events. (In the form of cold cans of Red Bull).
Kent Reserve Victor Harbor rules again!
Day 1
Well the weekend started with promise of heaps of wind from start to finish on SAT and early morning to possible midday on Sunday. Dave and Daz were first on SAT with Murf and Kyle following up soon after before Chris and Terry. It was 12 knots but we were confident that it would build all day, and it did not disappoint. By the end of the day it was 25 knots full on.
It was cold but the boys persisted through it, great wind, small swell and glass up through the esplanade to the Deli. Insane Air and speed was the ticket!
Mat and Reece got in later both pulling power moves and ripping into some insane wake-boarding cannon ball kiteloops.
After 5 plus hours of kiting I was slightly spent. Could it be done again tomorrow? Oh yes
Day 2
Murf called it for early and by the time I got there at 8.10 he had already a 3/4 hr kite in strong winds under his belt. Not to be left on the beach I rigged the Halo again and was not disappointed as it holds the top end without effort. Kyle rigged his Raven 10 and we were out there. The swell had kicked up overnight and this made for some awesome runs up the esplanade and back down some sharp waves. How much more could I kite? Jumps became too hard as I couldn't hardly pull the bar in for one so the rest of the session was wave cruzing.
Then the city slickers rocked in, Gusta, Suzie, Syksie, Tony and Wormie, and the local boy Chris. They got the tail of it Suzie picking of the best of the last ripping on the southern point and esplanade.
A the end of a nice day the lovely Red Bull Girls rocked up with the event prizes, thanks girls, see you at the next event, DAZ XOX
