Port Willie got set upon by a sea of kites on SAT the 6th of August.
Wind was predicted to be 15 20 NW, however it was North for most of the session only turning NW at the end of the session. Port Willie takes a north wind and is onshore in a NW. Wind was 15 20 with some 14 23 variations and all had either a 12 or 16 up, there was a 2 3 ft shori with some deep water shop and ground swell out the back. The team was Paul, Scotti, Andrew, Kyle, and Daz. (Pete rocked up later at big snapper) The session proved to be a good one with the starboard tack jumps off the outside shore break and some fun big jumps with nothing but the deep blue under you. After the wind turned NW it was even better with long runs along the shore break for most and Daz out the back keeping the crowd spread.
Highlights:
Newbie cannon ball respect for the sport incident!
Andrews back roll of the lip triple body spin huge slam which awed all who saw it!
Darren out the back long jumps with one foot off
Paul really getting it happening in the surf
Scotti gettin some nice waves inside
Kyles one handed back rolls off the lip, no one lands em like Kyle.
Plus the big air reentries on the outside shore break.
Then Pete was out at snapper once the tide came in and Daz could not help but do the wet suit half pumped kite drive to big Snapper, where it went off!
Nice silk runs on the 12 and 20 meter, no price for guessing who had what size kite. The gorgeous Claire came down and took some nice photos.
Ps. did I say how good Kyle was?
Nice day for sure!
Daz!!!
