Kyathane Selvaen, a powerful mage and shape-shifter of mysterious
mixed heritage able to tap into all six of the 'Eternal Element' magics.
Married to Skyri-wren of the race of winged beings called Ayvens, he has three living children to Skyri; Lyren, winged like his mother and mute after his twin brother, Lyden's, death, and identical twin daughters, Kywyn and Kelyn. He also has a son with Callon the Sünrir Princess, (conceived after Skyri's death) named Jenaros.
Tragedy tends to shadow Kyathane's footsteps on a constant basis.

Very light blonde, parted over to the right so as to conceal his yellow eye. Worn loose or in a braid.

Pale grey/blue left, Pale yellow/gold right with cat-like pupils. Both glow yellow/gold during spellcasting. Kyathane tends to hide his yellow eye beneath his hair, having learned at an early age that the unnatural colour makes people judge or fear him.

Abilities:

-Powerful multi-element magic wielder, though his strongest affinity is Light, like his mother.

-Able to summon elemental ‘ghosts’ called "Elemir" (huge, powerful, element-based beasts usually in the form of Mythical creatures from Earth Lore (it is said the origin of Earths mythical creatures are actually the Elemir).

-Has some metamorphosing ability.

-Excellent with paired weapons i.e. Sai, butterfly knives, twin spears etc. Favours a set of double broadswords created by his grandfather and customised by his father, Thaen for himself and his twin.

Appearance:

-Tall, agile, muscular and graceful with broad shoulders and long limbs, Kyathane keeps himself strong through constant training with his father and through teaching weaponry to his children.
Kyathane is considered one of the better looking of his usually fair people. Beautiful and somewhat effeminate in the face, he is sometimes mistaken for a female when among humans, much to the enjoyment of his family and to his chagrin. Amusingly, his sons, Lyren and Jenaros, suffer from the same dilemma.

-Usually wears his hair loose with a side part to the right covering his gold coloured right eye or braided when practicing new magics or weaponry.

-On Dirthia wears loose comfortable clothing in mixed traditional oriental styles, favourites being loose, straight leg, drawstring pants, leather belt with family crest as buckle that also holds his smaller weapons, loose Earth-Chinese collared, sleeveless vests worn to the knee or lower for special occasions and events; loose, long-sleeved Earth-Korean (cheogori) styled shirts tied below the chest of light fabric that reach to just below the waist. Ky loves to wear the colour red as well as silver, amber and garnets. Depending on terrain, either light, knee high boots or heavy leather boots with pants tucked in. Broadswords carried on his back as one weapon, held by a leather harness across his chest and shoulder. 
-On 18th century Earth (1730's), prefers to wear a loose white, long sleeve shirt with ruff and cravat made from cotton, dark red breeches with white leggings and black leather shoes with large buckles. A pale gold buttoned waistcoat to the thighs opened towards the bottom of the garment with silver thread decorations. Dark red, knee length coat (gilet) with similar decorations around buttons and wide folded cuffs. Broadswords carried as one at his belt side, he tends to receive some curious stares as to the shape and origin of the 'sword'. Uses hair and a hat to cover ears.

Distinctive
markings:

Has a small circular birthmark/tattoo shaped like the stylised symbol for Lasuen, the Dirimeth of Light that continuously reappears after removal on the upper part of his back between his shoulders.

-The mark is described as a circle containing the symbol of Taal (Time/Infinity or the God of Time, creator of Dirthia and the Dirimeth) in the middle, horizontally positioned within the centre of the circle, representative of Lasuen.
Both Kyathane and his brother, Kayethos, have a few scars on their backs between their shoulders where they used to hack at the mark, trying to remove it when they were much younger and it first manifested, increasing their magic abilities but rendering them almost too uncontrollable to use safely.
After Kas lost his ability to use any other Magia except Eraia (Shadow), his mark became the single 'Mark Of Eraia' (circle containing the symbol of Taal in the middle, vertically positioned within the centre of the circle, representative of Eraia).
Ky's wife, children, his father, Thaen, and his brother are the only people who know of the mark on his back, his wife now helps him remove it by gentler means and magic, though it never remains gone for longer than a few months, it's return hailed by uncontrollable surges of Magia.

Other Shapes:

-The Hawk. Larger than normal hawks with gold and red plumage, Ky found he was able to morph into a hawk when he was very young. Loving the sense of freedom it gave him, the young Arshaelan would use his gift as often as possible, worrying his parents and annoying his sibling who, unable to shape-change, had to remain grounded.

-The ‘Light Dirimeth or ‘Suncat Lasuen’ is a secondary form Kyathane found he was able to (involuntarily) morph into. A Dirimeth is a large winged elemental cat, similar in appearance to a lion but roughly the size of a horse, seemingly made entirely of one of the six Eternal Elements; Fire, air, earth, water, light and shadow.
The only accounts of these demi-gods existing are found in ancient parchments and paintings and through accounts of near death experiences and children's imaginations...

The Incident On The Cliff.

Weapons:

-Pair of family heirloom, twin Chinese Broadswords carried as one blade on his back. The blades were created by Ky's grandfather, Zethyn.
Zethyn created the weapons to be wielded as a single sword or as two, and infused them with his Magia upon creating them in a technique similar to the Sünrir weapons-masters (The technique was, in fact, stolen). Zethyn gave the blades to his son, Thaen, teaching him how to use them in tandem, alternating between single blade and double blade mid-battle, a style that has existed for generations of the Selvaen family, passed on to both sons and daughters.
At the end of the second Sünrir war, Thaen customised the swords for his twin sons, lightening the blades and rebalancing them for the brothers as well as using a forbidden and long forgotten Narelv technique whereby the blades are bonded to their owners by blood. The weapons are able to Magically adapt to the weaknesses of the enemy, drawing Magia from the wielder to strengthen the blades and the wielder.
When Kayethos gave up his Magia his blade unbound itself from him, following it's own twin and bonding to Kyathane.
The blades did not have a name until after they were customised for the twins; Ky received Dirisien - 'Song of Beginning', Kas received Imethsien - 'Song of Ending'. Both swords have a pale, almost white metal blade and clear, diamond hilt, perfectly smoothed to avoid cutting the hand of it's owner. The hilt is also partially bound in white leather for grip. The pommel is a clear-cut diamond, in a flawless Princess cut, held in place by Magia, which can also be used to inflict a wound or to cut through almost anything.
Together the blades are called Taalsien - 'Song of Time'.
The swords can be used as one weapon or two.

-Twin butterfly knives carried on his belt.

-Magic known as Magia on Dirthia. 
Magia is based on the six "Eternal Elements" (Dirimeth): Earth (Keiaarn), Water (Sasree), Fire (Iridet), Air (Belsihm), Light (Lasuen) and Shadow (Eraia).

All Ky’s weapons are twined or augmented when used with his twin, e.g. his magic, his swords.

Familiars:

White female hawk by the name of Sorcha (SOH-r-chuh), meaning 'Brightness' or 'Light'. Found by Kas when the boys where younger, the bird bonded immediately with Ky, much to the disappointment and envy of Kas.
