My advice for anyone that is serious about becoming a graphics artist: purchase this book!
You can have the finest software and the world's fastest computer, and your graphics can still be very poor. The secret to all good art is knowing how to draw. Once you can draw, the doors will open and your work will improve dramatically.

In all the years I've been drawing and doing computer graphics, I have found one book which I highly recommend to anyone who wants to learn to draw, and draw well. This amazing book teaches you techniques for tapping into the powerful, creative side of your brain and unleashing the artistic talent you already have, but aren't aware of. The before/after student examples in the book are simply unbelievable, and you too will experience the thrill of being able to draw on paper what you see. The lessons are quick and you will see astonishing results the first days.
