As a two year old Sky High (the brother of Skyline) registered six wins from seven starts beginning with the AJC Breeders Plate by three
lengths in the Spring of 1959. He resumed to win three minor events before being sent out as odds-on favourite in the 1960 Golden Slipper. Sky High won comfortably from champion filly Wenona Girl by 1
1/2 lengths. At his next start, he was beaten into third place by Wenona Girl and Persian Lyric over the 7 furlongs of the AJC Sires Produce Stakes. Sky High won 29 races in his long career including the VRC
Derby, Lightning Stakes, Futurity Stakes and AJC All-Aged Stakes, Epsom Handicap, Caulfield Stakes, L K S Mackinnon Stakes, Rawson Stakes and the Chipping Norton Stakes. Sky High was a wonderful
racehorse: a brilliant two year old; classic winner at three plus numerous handicap and weight-for-age events. Sky High went to stud in Australia where he was deemed a failure. He was exported to
America where he sired Autobiography. |
