Fine and Dandy was beaten as favourite at his first start, but at his next race won the AJC Canonbury Stakes in record time, then the
VRC Maribyrnong Plate. At his next two starts, trainer Plant raced the youngster against open company. He won both races. Next was the Golden Slipper in which he started as odds-on favourite. He
won easily by 1 3/4 lengths from Akimbo with another Star Kingdom foal, Morning Star, in third place. He followed up by winning the AJC Sires Produce Stakes and then went to Queensland where he won the QTC Sires
Produce Stakes. Due to a leg injury the gelding did not race for almost twelve months, resuming with a comfortable win in a flying handicap at Randwick. As an older horse he won the 1961 AJC Doncaster
Handicapl beating Sky High by four lengths in Australasian record time of 1:34.2 and again in 1963 won the same race. His form tapered off From 45 starts he won 15 races. |
