The 1976 Golden Slipper winner was trained by Bart Cummings who broke T J Smith's recent stranglehold on the race. Vivarchi beat Romantic
Dream to win the Slipper. Ironically Romantic Dream was the next yearly sold at the William Inglis & Son sales after Bart Cummings had outbid the Cook brothers for Vivarchi (the top price yearling at
$62,000). Romantic Dream was bought by the same brothers as a consolation for $10,500. Prior to his win in the Slipper he had eight starts for four wins including the VRC Bloodhorse Breeders' Plate.
After the Slipper he was to win the AJC Champagne Stakes but as a three year old only one race from 13 more starts. |
