The combination of trainer Clarry Conners and jockey Shane Dye once again proved a winning combination when first season sire and
Golden Slipper winner Marauding produced a filly out of Sudden a daughter of Newhaven Park stud broodmare Valour. At her first start in the Spring of 1991 Burst finished a close second to Watch in the
1000m Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick. Burst won the Gosford Slipper, before dumping rider Shane Dye before the Penfolds Classic at Newcastle. She then won the Reisling Slipper Trial before
entering the Slipper as second favourite to colt Clan O'Sullivan. Clan O'Sullivan went straight to the lead and was chased hard from the outset and it was left to Burst to have the last shot and to
overwhelm the favourite to win running away by a half length. Again Conners and Dye took out the AJC Sires Produce and Champage Stakes with the little filly before she went for a well-earned
spell. She returned in the Spring to win the Tea Rose Stakes at Rosehill and the Apollo Stakes in the Autumn at Warwick Farm. |
