In 1989, Shane Dye rode the Melbourne filly, Courtza, trained by Ross McDonald and owned by Nick Columb to victory to his first victory in the
Golden Slipper. This proved to be a popular win as the filly started as the 7/2 favourite, having won the 1989 VATC Blue Diamond. At stud Courtza has foaled New Zealand Horse of the Year O'Reilly. |
