WHITES NEWS Whites Commence Training 30/01/2008
As advised previously in the Age, official pre-season training began yesterday at the Club ' s headquarters at Campese Field. From then on training will be held every Tues/Thur until the sun sets on the 2008 season. All players both old and new are invited to attend as the Club prepares to defend the titles it won in 2007 and look to see if they can't add a few more trophies to the cabinet. Next Tuesday there will be a BBQ for players and supporters immediately following training (for those players who can walk), and once again it would be a good opportunity to mingle with the players.
Already confirmed dates in the calendar are as follows:
31st Jan - Pre-season starts
9th Feb - Parramatta 7's
23rd Feb - Kiama 7's
1st March - QBN 7's
It is hoped that some clarity will be available shortly to the local rugby community with a number of issues still to be thrashed out by the Club Presidents at a meeting this week surrounding the season program, taking into consideration possible ground closures due to the current drought and the recent announcement of the cancelling of the Australian Rugby Championship after just 1 season.
In other news, boom rake Daniel Penca has been cleared of major shoulder damage and will now be fit and healthy and raring to go for the kick-off of the 2008 season. Penca will be keen to build on his performances of last season which saw him represent Australia at the Under 19's level and as part of the Brumbies Academy.
