Mistress Oonagh O'Neill

Elevated to the Order of the Laurel

AS XXXVIII

11 April 2004

Rowany Festival

by their Majesties Aedward and Yolande , King and Queen of Lochac

Mistress Mathilde calling forward her journeywoman for elevation.

Master Drake (left) escorted me to their majesties.

Will you join the noble Order of the Laurel?

Mistress Mathilde Speaks for me.  It all became rather emotional.

There were tears.

And there was laughter.

Mistress Mathilde telling the history of the laurel medallion I am to receive.

Swearing Fealty.

Mistress Monique telling of the fealty chain I am to receive.

Some trouble getting up, there is so much skirt I had knelt on it.

Go forth and greet your peers.  The crush of the Laurel hug.

My first laurel duty see the laurelling of a friend immediately after my own ceremony.

I didn't make a new dress for the occasion, shame on me I know, but this was a new dress that I hadn't worn to an event as yet.  I was invited to the order only an hour before the ceremony.  I was Laurelled for 16th century Venetian noble women's dress and accessories, with secondary in teaching and research.

For the fuller story of my offer and subsequent ceremony click here.

At the moment I seem to be the first third generation Laurel in the Kingdom of Lochac.

There are lots of lovely images of the back of my head.  Hopefully I will have better images from others who were there.  Some of these photos were taken by my apprentice sister, Shelly, her boyfriend., Daniel and other by Lee.  All from Analia.
