The Bunny Box

Miss B

Adoption August 2002 - 18 April 2003

Miss B We had been contemplating Holly's need for bunny company for a while when I received an email about a rabbit that had been found in a park. He had been running up to joggers in the park looking for attention and was rescued by a compassionate worker there when the head gardener explained his methods of dealing with stray animals. I was asked if I knew of anyone that could give him a home and decided that, since it was male, it would make a good friend for Holly. Due to Whisper being so sick I didn't want to bring another rabbit into the house until I was sure it was safe. The rabbit stayed in the foster home and was booked in to be de-sexed. It was then we found out that he was actually a she! I was a little worried as to how Holly would react to another female, but decided to at least try.

Miss B is such a gentle, confident bunny she had no problem dealing with Holly's constant demands for attention. The introduction process was over very quickly and they all moved into their new area. Holly and she have tiffs occassionally, but they are never nasty and no-one ever gets hurt. I think most are caused by Holly being a little too demanding. Interestingly they always occur in the evening, never during the day. Most of the time however all three can be found crowded into a small area that has become "The Spot", virtually laying on top of each other.

The Spot Although she's not a lap bunny, B is quite happy to be around people and is very trusting. Like most buns, she is not keen on being picked up, and is happier sitting or laying next to me while I 'groom' her

This 3 some have turned into the breakout crew and you can't leave their gate unlatched for even a second. Trying to round them up is like trying to sweep water uphill, I'm sure I can hear them giggling as I run around like an idiot and they all take off in different directions. Quite often you can hear them 'testing' the gate to see if I've lapsed, I've even seen them join forces to add extra weight just in case! Although these 3 love hanging out together, Holly and Whisper are definitely closer and I often see Miss B loafing alone. Of course this could just be her way of getting a break from the demands of the other two, but I think she may like a buddy of her own to snuggle with. To that end we have just added Magic to our household and have begun introductions to the group.

Update 19 April 2003

Sadly, Miss B went to the bridge on the 18 April 2003. Like Apache it was very sudden, with little warning. I will miss you sweet B, your gentle nature and patience were an example to us all.
