FlatCat's MAME Cabinet Site News
I'm a big fan of Firefox Browser and it has just reached version 1. Do yourself a favour and get the best browser on the market.
10 Oct: Hi all!
Yes I'm still around but unfortunatley haven't had much time for mame lately.
Feel free to email me questions, but don't be too surprised if I take a while to answer them. Also check out the mame newsgroup as there are some real gurus there.
8 Mar: Haven't been doing much with mame lately, been getting into visual pinball and down loading lots of pinmame roms and tables.
finally got round to answering some of my emails, sorry for the delays.
fixed the download page and added mame32v61b.zip if anyone wants this slightly older version.
Iv'e settled on v61 for my cab and PC as I have all the roms etc for this version, perhaps if I ever get broadband I'll update?
Hope everyone in mame-land are doing well, catch you all later
3 Jan 2003: Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Years Eve.
Did a few tweaks to the cabinet and updated my back-up web site. (http://geocities.com/mamecab)
28 Dec: I
finally installed the PC into the cabinet!!
Pluged in the JPAC and everything came up fine... or so it seemed.
ArcadeOS came up fine but none of the games worked, after some help from LasVegas, got it all going.
Also played with advcab to get a better DOS picture.
Apart from some further mode tweaking the thing is running great......... and it only took me a year to do.
Check my FAQ page for the problems I encountered and how to fix them.
26 Dec: Hope you all had a very good Christmas. I must have been a fairly good boy as Santa sent me a Digital Camera.
This will get some use soon to take photos of the completed cabinet.
17 Sep: Well a lot has happened recently, I re-installed everthing on my harddrive, including upgrading to version .61 of mame (LasVegas version of advmame) and ordered the update roms from tombstones (recieved but yet to be installed).
Then disaster struck - my other PC fried in a big way. So to be able to surf the net I have used my mamecab PC! So now I'm without a mamecab until I get the PC replaced.
I have finally updated the sitemap page and added a search function courtesy of freefind.com
20 Aug: Fixed up the WebRing links. See the bottom of the Main Information column for the updated WebRing links.
18 Aug: A few updates to this site.
added - link to me - picture and code.
see bottom of this page and links page.
If anyone would like to add their site to my links page just let me know.
Spent last weekend in Sydney, went to an Indian cooking class at Nilgiri's restaurant.
1 Aug: I've been having some renovations done on the house.
So I haven't been able to get near my cabinet as I've been using the area as storage.
Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and I can complete this very long cab project!
To all the people who have been asking for assistance lately I hope to be able to find some answers this weekend.
Stay Tuned.......
2 June: I've been having a life lately so haven't done much with the cabinet.
I'm fairly happy with the set-up now (arcadeos/advancemame) and have decided to dump damp.
When I get some more time I will re-install the whole setup on the PC so I have a "clean" install.
Made some minor changes to the web site.
14 May: Uploaded pictures for the gallery page.
Check 'em out. These are the 'before' photos.
Two Web Rings are now Active. Check them out at the bottom of this page.
4/5 May: Did some more work on the web site.
Took some 'before' photos of the cabinet.
2 May: To the people that complained this site looks a bit boring, I'll try and find a few images to put here and liven it up a bit.
I think the grey look sort of simulates the original black and white only games I first played (such as pong).
I will be borrowing a digital camera this weekend so should have a few photos to post next week.
28 April: RTFM - its amazing what you find when you
RTFM.
From a tip-off on the ng, I read the advmenu documentation and worked out how to change the annoying background sounds. YES!
I now have advmenu running advmame quite happily on a PC monitor, now to find some time to try it in the cabinet.
27 April: Went to the Fiery Food Festival in Morpeth. Tried lots of chilli sauces, jams, chutneys etc. Bought a truck load home. Someone get me an extinguisher!
26 April: Tried variations of ArcadeOS and dmame/advmame; and Advmenu and advmame, to see which I liked best (now that I can get them all to work!).
Decided I like arcadeos as a front end best (can't stand the annoying sounds in advmenu). Still undecided about dmame or advmame?
25 April: Completed download of v59 roms.
Installed roms onto cabinet PC and fixed as required using Rom Center.
14 April: Just hanging around ngs and mamechat.
Went and saw Pirates of Penzance, staring John English, last night.
Very funny show.
6 April: Commenced work
on Web page.
Fitted 128Mb RAM from other PC into mame cabinet PC.
KOF 99 and 2000 now work without page fault errors.
4 April: Suggestion from news group to fix page fault errors.
