Family News in Brief
17 December 2006
Real Estate has picked up a lot this year although the market is still a little slow, but plenty of people still looking and buying regardless of the 'interest increases.' Gosh, when we think about how "high" mortgage rates were when we bought our very first house in Hamilton - they were around 17-18% - but the price of everything else wasn't so high!
We were kept very busy during the year with many things including selling and moving house and with Liz's Mum who had an Aortic Valve Replacement in May and had several setbacks. Her health and fitness are now returning and she is doing much better. We were lucky to have caught up with a lot of people this year both in New Zealand and here at home. All around 2006 has been a rather stressful year but punctuated with lots of fun and we are now looking forward to taking a break over Xmas/New Year and doing nothing! Now if only everyone else will oblige! hehehe We are now in the midst of 'planning' a South Island motorhome trip for April next year, finally experiencing part of New Zealand that we never got to when living there (typical isn't it!).
Mark (26) is awaiting confirmation of a move up to South Sydney to improve his future plans. He is hoping to be bowling for Engadine Lawn Bowls Club in their Premier League Team. He plays as much as work permits and is still involved in Supermarket Management. He has no girlfriend at present but still keeps in touch with his ex Jessica and her family.
James (nearly 25) and his partner Carmen have been looking to buy a home in Sydney and have been spending most weekends visiting Open Homes. They have just put a deposit on a home this week and are very happy!! Not sure about Mum & Dad who are going grey thinking about the repayments!!! A lovely four bedroom home with a double garage and ducted air-conditioning which is not too far from Carmen's parents who live in Baulkham Hills. James is now working at Goodman Fielder in Sydney. He is a rep and travels a lot during the week. The company sells bread eg Vogel's & Helgas brands and much more. Carmen works at "Eye Corp" which is a big advertising company both in Australia and NZ. She is an accountant there and has also been recently handed the work of looking after NZ accounts also.
Anna (22) recently moved back to Coffs Harbour from the Gold Coast with her partner Peter. Anna has been away for well over 3 years. Peter is originally from London and is a first class chef. He has bought a local restaurant "Deckchairs" which is situated within the Nautilus Beachfront Villas and Spa Resort nearby. They are very busy with some days of 18 hours or more. Once the silly season has passed they hope to make quite a few changes and have some regular time off - believe us when we tell you - they need it!!!
A very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!!! Take lots of care especially over the holidays,
Grant & Liz XX
