Ocean Wave
Supplies Needed
PI 11 or 12
This animated signature tag was done with PI 11
Download a Free Trial of PI from HERE
Flaming Pears free trial plug-in Flood from HERE
Open a new image 450 x 110
choose a fat font like "Arial Black"
Type your name and make it 2D
Goto Edit/Fill, click on the Multiple colours window
Choose gradient 022
Put a border on your name of 1 or 2 whichever looks the best
with colour #030B52
Right Click and convert your name to an image
Duplicate it (shift D) 4 times so that you have a total of five name layers in a stack in one image.
This is what your layer palette should look like
At this point save your image as a UFO file.
don't forget to save often!
OK!
Hide the top 3 layers and click on the bottom name.
Highlight your "T" text tool
Now tap on your right arrow key on your keyboard, 5 times
This is what you text should now look like, gives it a nice 3D look.
Neat ah!!
Highlight the bottom 2 layers, Right Click and Merge as a single object
Now click on the Hide/Show icon and hide the bottom layer
Now for the fun part...........lol
For this part you will need to unhide the base layer so that you can select the text with the Magic wand tool.

At this point, in PI 12, although you need to unhide the base layer, you can highlight the top name layer and it will select the name.
In PI 11 however you must have the base layer highlighted for the selection to work

Select your Magic Wand Tool from the Tool Bar
and use these settings to select your text
Now click on the white area and all the area around your text will be selected.
If you have any holes, (like I did with the D and the A) just click on the + in the magic wand settings and click on the white area inside those letters.
Goto Selection/Invert so that only the text is selected.
Then Selection/Expand/Shrink
use the settings below or if you only gave your text a border of 1, use 1
OK, now that the selection part is over, hide your base layer again.
Now
Goto you top name layer and click on the icon to unhide your name
Goto Effects/Flaming Pear/Flood
use these settings
Click OK
Now at this point the water looks rather dark, don't worry, we are going to change the blend mode...........lol
Hide the top name layer and highlight the next name layer down.
Click on the unhide box
Goto Effects/Flaming Pear/Flood
use the same settings as above except change Complexity to 14.
Click OK
hide that layer and highlight the next layer down, which will be the 3rd and final name to make the wave effect.
Goto Effects/Flaming Pear/Flood
use the same settings as above except change Complexity to 21.
Click OK
Goto Selection/None
Crop away any excess around your name, this helps to keep the file size (kb's) down in GA5.
Save as a UFO file

To save time in GA5, hide all name layers except for the bottom layer that looks 3D.
Lets Animate that wave!!
