| King Haakon Vll of Norway | ||
| Christian Frederik Carl Georg Valdemar Axel or Prince Carl of Denmark was born on 3rd August 1872. He became the first king of Norway after the 1905 dissolution of the personal union with Sweden and took the title Haakon VII, King of Norway. As one of the few elected monarchs, Haakon quickly won the respect and affection of his people and regarded as one of the greatest Norwegians of the twentieth century. He died at the age of 85, on 21st September 1957, after having reigned for 52 years. |
