This project is the one that officially becomes my last assignment of my University life. The whole assignment is related to the development of a website for a group of schools within a rural community.

Orbost is a small logging town set on the Snowy River, 400km east of Melbourne. The current population stands at approximately 2 500 people and is the town I was born and raised in. Surrounding the township is a number of small suburb-like towns that populate a further 20-50 people in each. There is one kindergarten for the town and surrounding areas, however, there are five primary schools (one private and 4 public within a 15km radius from the towns centre. This may make it difficult for parents to decide which school to select for their child particularly if it is their first child in kindergarten. Each school in the area has different reputations, numbers of enrolments, localities and specialist programs on offer - all things that could be influential in the decision making process of which school to send a child to.

To enable each school an equal chance of receiving new enrolments and possibly other family members in the future, as well as providing the first step of informing parents, I decided to develop a web site featuring selected information on each school because it is an ideal, 'new-age' resource. The web site for this information will need to be clear, succinct, easy to access and based on facts. This was the first website I have set up and therefore became an interesting, yet worthwhile challenge.

For a long time, I have studied and read as much information about web sites that I could get my hands on. As well as this, I have interviewed and set up meetings with each principal from the local surrounding schools and thus, gained as much relevant material and information as I could. After combining the two tasks, I have completed an investigation and then created a website for the parents, of young children, to be able to locate and read, which will then hopefully support the decision making process of choosing the 'right' school for their children much easier.

The following links provide information on:
· School enrolments
· School buildings and grounds features
· Classroom settings
· Developmental programs
· Curriculum
· Specialist programs
· Community programs
· Information on parental involvement
· Links to schools websites, and importantly
· School contact details
