St Joseph's Catholic Primary School is situated close to the Snowy River, next to the community Rainforest Centre. It is the only school alternative to state education, where staff, students and parents work together to form a close knit school community, not to mention an excellent schooling experience and with the support of St Colman's Parish, helps to provide a rich and real Sacramental education.

It is important at St Joseph's that the Gospel values of Jesus are taken by all concerned, and where friendship, respect, peace, justice, love and hope are nurtured within each child.

The key learning areas (The Arts, English, Mathematics, Science, Technology, SOSE-Study of Society and the Environment, Health and Physical Education and LOTE-Languages other Than English) are taught with several commercial programs supplementing the schools resources for each area.

The size and grouping of the school allow the children maximum benefit of small group tuition and attention, extension or remedial work if necessary.

Other features, relating to curriculum, at St Joseph's include: · Religious education - guidelines sanctioned by the regional Bishop · Sacrament Program - the opportunity to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation · Community Programs - Meals on Wheels, performances for the elderly, and conservation programs · Excursions and Camps

As St Joseph's is not a part of the state education, it is therefore not funded entirely by the government, so school fees are vital for resources, building maintenance and equipment. However, no child is excluded from the school if the fees cannot be paid, instead arrangement, made in strict confidence, with the principal or parish priest can be made.

Parental involvement is crucial for the success of the school, as it helps to foster a spirit of cooperation within the school.
