Orbost North Primary School is situated at the north end of the town and the building is surrounded by attractive gardens and ample outdoor playing areas, such as basketball/netball courts, a large oval, sandpits, play equipment and a large hall for indoor usage during winter.

Orbost North provides an individualised learning environment with a well-rounded approach to learning. The staff prides themselves on their ability to cater for all students, no matter what economic, religious or cultural backgrounds and they also share the belief that each individual student attending Orbost North will be nurtured to the staffs utmost capability.

Every student at Orbost North Primary School has the right to a comprehensive, inclusive curriculum over the 8 key learning areas of The Arts, English, Mathematics, Science, Technlogy, SOSE (Studies of Society and the Environment), Health and Physical Activity and LOTE (Languages Other Than English). A variety of teaching methods is offered to cater for each individual students needs, including: · Direct teaching · Peer teaching · Learning centres · 'Thrass' Literacy Withdrawal Groups, and · Cross age tutoring

Orbost North Primary School has recently embarked on a program with the Orbost Secondary College called 'Growing Together'. This program is structured on cross-age tutoring where the students from Yr 7 and 8 work with the Grade Prep to 2 primary aged children to help them develop their literacy skills. Literacy and Numeracy Focus is a major aspect in the curriculum at Orbost North, where small group tuition is promoted to enhance the ultimate success of the early Years Literacy and Numeracy focus. Tutors are available for Reading Recovery, ATAS (Aboriginal Tutorial Assistance Scheme) 'Bridging the Gap', Bridges and Mathematics.
