Orbost Primary School was built in 1886 and is situated close to the main amenities in the town of Orbost. Extensive gardens, basketball/netball courts and a neat, attractive and safe playground surround the school building.

Orbost Primary School is committed to literacy support within the school and has been involved in the early literacy program since 1996. Whole school literacy data is collected twice a year on each individual to assist with the monitoring and development of each child. The school has received two literacy awards for its literacy development.
