Marlo Primary School is situated 15km south of Orbost and is a relatively new school. The first Marlo Primary School opened in 1902, however recent building additions date until 1996. In 1997, a basketball court was completed and at present an oval is being established. In 1993, the Marlo Primary School became a "School for the Future", which allows its School Council and various committee's to make majority of decisions on most school matters.

The staff at Marlo Primary School continually emphasise the English Language. This priority is based on focusing on the Early Years Ideals, which incorporates the Western Australian First Steps Program, special needs, library, spelling and oral language. This focus has seen a great deal of professional development programs undertaken by the staff and has also seen the implementation of Reading Recovery.

Other professional development programs include: · Learning technologies · Early Years strategies and · 'Turning the Tide' - Drug Education As well as having a library situated within the school, the East Gippsland Mobile Library van visits the school fortnightly for book borrowing. This not only allows the students to be able to borrow books, but also gives their families the opportunity to do so as well.

Other priority areas in the current School Charter include Numeracy and Science. Marlo Primary School is currently involved in the Science in Schools (SiS) project, which is a research and development project coordinated by Deakin University and the Department of Education, Employment and Training (D.E.E.T).

Marlo Primary School is also heavily involved in the Middle Years Research And Development (MYRAD) project along with the other schools in the Orbost Cluster. This project coordinated by Melbourne University and D.E.E.T focuses on the enhancement of learning for the middle years of schooling from Years 5 to 9.

Finally, parental involvement is encouraged at Marlo Primary School and this can happen within a range of activities, some of these include: · School council · Parents club · Reading programs, and · Camps
