What is an INTP?
The fact that you found this site probably means that you already know, but I'd better explain it anyway just in case. INTP is a personality type as part of the MBTI psychological personality typology, (or whatever you want to call it) (MBTI standing for Myers Briggs Type Indicator) INTP stands for Introvert, iNtuitive, Thinking, Perceiving. Rather than try to explain it in detail, I'll provide some links (see below), cause there's plenty of info on the web about this stuff.
In summary, INTPs are very logical people(Thinking), but at the same time can be easy going and laid back(Perceiving). They tend to like theories and abstract ideas and have a decent imagination(iNtuition). They are also independant, maybe quite detached from others, and are comfortable doing things alone(Introversion). INTPs are one of the more rare types within the MBTI.
If you're new to personality typing, I'd really recommend learning more about it and finding out what type you are, cause its pretty interesting and gives you lots to analyse about the way people behave. On the other hand if this sort of thing isn't your style, then don't bother, and what are you doing reading this anyway? :)
What is the objective with this site?
I came up with a simple idea, and thought I'd give it a try. I'm basically trying to create a social group within Brisbane, for people of the INTP type. My reasoning is that as an INTP, socialising isn't such an easy thing for me, and from many experiences in the past I have always found it easier to socialise with people of similiar types.(although I've only been into this personality type stuff for a bit over a year). I know that there's like-minded people out there, and its just a matter of finding them, or them finding this website.
Sure, people may have things to critisize about this idea, and there's plenty of other ways to socialise and meet new people, but I just think it would be really interesting to have a social group of this kind. Most formal social groups and things to meet people cost money, because some fat, greedy, cigar smoking suit, is trying to milk it for all its worth. (no offense to anyone) But socialising should be free, it shouldn't cost money to meet new friends.
So, what I'm imagining is just an informal social group with the majority of members being INTPs. Maybe its unrealistic, maybe there's a very small chance that it will succeed, or it may be easier than anyone would think, either way, it will be interesting to see if I get many responses.
I'd have to say I got this idea after finding the site www.meetup.com and suggesting an INTP meetup topic. Its taken a while, but it now exists (see links)
So what kind of people?
I'm trying to aim it towards younger people (I'm 23), cause I'm still a young, crazy, foolish, angry, testy, alternative, hippy freak (naa only JOKING, but you get the idea).
Types other than INTPs are certainly welcome, as long as they have a willingness to understand or accept the way INTPs behave and talk(or don't talk)
Social things are usually based around interest/hobbies of some kind. Of course people who have found this site are likely to have some interest in personality type theory(s) so thats a good start, but as the group gets larger (if it does) there should be a broader range of interests. I might as well mention some of my main interests. Computers/IT/Technology etc. ; alternative rock music-seeing live bands etc ; performance cars (I really am a bit of a rev head)

I'll keep a list of email addresses of all those that are interested, so there can be discussion by email, and I might also setup a yahoo group if there's enough interest (from people in Brisbane) I'll wait till I get a number of responses, and some email discussion going, then we'll see where we go from there
