Just who can catch the biggest fish... Gladesville Ravens boast a talented team of sportsmen - unfortunately for the soccer team, most of this sporting prowess is confined to the early morning angling scene, where avid players have been known to forfeit their place in the team on a Saturday in favour of a few nibbles on their rod on a Friday night. Here are some examples, keep them rolling in...
21/01/06 - Bait Boy, King Tuk Tuk and the Master Tactician took to the waters early on Saturday morning, hoping to find some dioxin free fish. They arrived at their not so secret spot, just in time to catch the run in tide.
Joel gets off the mark with a nice flathead.
Steve performs mouth to mouth on this slightly undersized Kingie.
Can you believe it!! The Bait Boy catches a Kingie.
Unsure what to do next, Joel just keeps posing, whilst a baffled Inan looks on.
Inan poses with a Kingie with a look he calls Blue Ice.
Early morning antics!!
Another one for the ladies!!
Spinner catches a bloody salmon.
Brad wasn't even on the boat, but he still managed to catch a good sized flathead.
07/01/06 - Ravens fishing mentor and master tactician Inspin headed off to Old Bar just after Xmas, to concentrate on catching a monster of the deep. Without the distractions of his Bluey Brothers, Inan quickly snapped up some live bait (2 potty mullets on unweighted bread hooks) and headed down to the beach to try his luck. His first live bait was taken, so he hooked up his second and last mullet. BANG!! He was on!! 15 minutes later and he had his monster.
Inspin, now a hero in Old Bar, was mobbed by locals wanting photographs.
Inan landed the fish, just before his shift in the mines started.
28/03/05 - After 5 days of fishing fiascos at South West Rocks, Steve, Brad and Joel again took to the water without their fishing mentor and tactician Inspin. Brad had big plans for his 5 crab nets, but lost one and found the other four very empty. It was Steve who brought in the catch of the day, although it was Brad who bagged the most, whilst Joel just made up the numbers. Steve pulled in the catch of the day, with this nice Blackfish.
Brad poses for the photo....unfortunately the bigger fish is Steve's.
Joel had nothing to show at the end of the day, but thought no-one would notice if he pretended Steve's Blackfish was his.
January 2005 - A boat, a case and a half of beer and five fishing fanatics. What more could you ask for!
One for the ladies.....
Brad knows where the camera is, and makes sure his monster flathead doesn't get in the way.
A small Bream for Joel, but a keeper nonetheless.
Fishing mentor and master tactician - Inan Koktas!!
The master in action, reeling in a big one......moments after rolling Steve a big one.
And there it is, a lovely King Fish, with Brad striking a pose in the background.
Stevie Z lays down the challenge with a whopper.
Inan plucks an equally weighty creature from the brine. |
