Internet Dating Tips

Write you profile as if you were describing yourself to a friend. Keep it simple, natural and honest.

Take some time to compose it and re-read it carefully before posting.

Include a photo if you can (some sites provide an option to only browse profiles with photos). Use a good portrait style shot (head and shoulders) and make sure it is fairly recent.

Don’t rush into things. Try to get to know a bit about the person before you actually meet. Find out about their interests, hobbies, family, career, etc.

Find out what the person is looking for in a date. There’s no point meeting someone who is looking for something casual if you are looking for a permanent relationship.

Do not give out any personal information, like phone numbers or your address.

When you are ready to meet, make sure it is in a public place. Coffee dates can often be the best because you can slip away after coffee and a chat or you can linger and talk as long as you please. Always let someone know where you are going, just in case.
