About Us |
|
Paediatric dentistry is not only the dental science focusing on children’s teeth but also a way to improve the well being of whole population. Establishing a dental patient’s confidence at the childhood will change his/her whole life as dental fear is generally learnt at an early age. Discipline of Paediatric Dentistry contributes to the following activities at the School of Dentistry. 1. Academic activities for the third, the fourth and the fifth year dental undergraduates, including lectures, seminars, tutorials, and laboratorial sessions related to paediatric dentistry, dentistry for special needs, pharmacological and non-pharmacological behaviour management, sports dentistry, and paediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery. 2. Research activities involved with dental undergraduates, postgraduates, and faculty staff members, including clinical, epidemiological, laboratorial, psychological, and cellular research projects. 3. Clinical activities in collaboration with the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia, including clinical management under general anaesthesia provided by professional staff and chair-side management provided by dental undergraduates. 4. Community activities in collaboration with Australian Dental Association, Children’s EXPO, and local primary schools, including oral hygiene instruction for parents, infants, toddlers, and local schoolchildren. |
