Division Report
Round 8.
Fastbreak versus
Manhattan
, at the
Manhattan
. Another Tuesday
night had rolled around, and our opponents were as formidable
group, as any team we had come up against.
We were missing
Craig Chenco
, but his absence was more than suitably filled by Brendan
Buckley.
The night started off exceptionally
well with the score at the end of the 1st ¼ being
9 – 3. Some
excellent pool was being played by our guys, with the 3 frames
that went against us being pretty tight.

The 2nd ¼ was more tightly fought, with
the scoreline being 15 – 9 at half time.
With a commanding lead, we did not want to do what had happened
previously in past weeks, which was to relax and then have to fight
near the end of the night because the other team closed the gap.
So in the 3rd ¼, we knuckled right down and went
ahead even further with an 8 – 4 quarter.
This put the scoreline at the end of the 3rd ¼ at
an imposing 23 – 13. We
could see this being a ‘percentage booster’ if we could continue
the run of frames that had been going our way.
Unfortunately this did not happen as Manhattan took out the
final ¼ 7 – 5. A final
score of 28 – 20 was a bit more flattering than it possibly could
have been, but we were happy to have the win.
Congratulations to Steve Jeffreys, Jason Lowe and Brendan
Buckley for taking 3 of their 4 frames.
A special mention to
Marco
Peccenini
for taking all 4 of his frames.
GO FAST BREAK!!!
4th
Division Report
This week saw us up against Daiseys Social, at
our place. We felt good
about this round 8 match as they were below us at the start of the
night on the ladder. The
night started with us on the back foot, as we had to forfeit one
doubles combination from the outset.
This meant we were 3 – 0 down without any play taking place.
Despite this, we knew we had to put our heads down if we were
to be victorious on the night.
Every week some of the new players keep showing
us how much talent and determination they have, to win as many frames
as they can. Filling in
for the night was Steve Massey, one of the owners of Fast Break,
allowing us to avoid a second forfeit and taking 2 of his 3 frames.
There were more people who put their hands up this week and
contributed to our efforts to win the night, but try as we might, we
just fell short. With the
score at 18 – 16, we had 2 players on their respective tables –
Michael Hoskins, and our captain
Justin Rosmalen
. Michael
had missed his previous 2 games but dug deep as any true Fast Break
player would and took his last frame, as did Justin.
So from a scoreline of 0 – 3 at the start of the
night, we managed a draw. But
to our guys credit, you take away those 3 free frames, and we managed
to take 18 of the 33 frames, and Daiseys only took 15.
Well done to our guys, especially Brad Spencer, Bec
Fisher/Sally-Jane Eaton, Jason Zammit,
Tammy Bryson
and Toby for taking 2 of their 3 frames.
It was also great to see our illustrious captain show us the
way to do it and take all 3. Well
done Justin. Until next
week, GO FAST BREAK!!!
