WEEK 8:   06/05/2003

Oh my dear, where do I begin to relate the unfortunate events of last Tuesday night? Our Fastbreak Breakers fronted up at Daisies Hotel to do the business with the Mitcham Hotel. Without going into the gory details, Mitcham to their credit won a convincing victory over the Breakers.

But the score was no indication of the strength or skill of the teams. Indeed, at one point Fastbreak were down 20 frames to 6!! But with some hard core guts and determination they fought back to the final score of 26 / 13.

It was a simple case of being outclassed on the night. Mitcham played to a very high level, and their new recruits form the Coach & Horses / Rack ‘em Up certainly proved effective compatriots. The main difference noted on the night was that normally a player would get away with making 1 (or sometimes even 2) mistakes – and get away with it. But not against Mitcham who demonstrated that experience always wins on the night. In fact, I may be going out on a limb here, but I would not be at all surprised to see Mitcham playing in this year’s Grand Final, but only time will tell.

Big fat coo-doos to the super-hero like efforts of Justin Rosmalen who was the only Fastbreak player to win 3 frames straight (gee his Mitcham opponent must feel great!! hehehehe). Other notable notorieties go to Mr. Cool himself Joe Saldaneri who got 2 from 3 as did Grant (the part-time blow in! lol) Kinniff (just kidding Butchy babe, we wuuuv you :) .......and last but certainly not least those Darlings of the Doubles Becky Fisher and Carly Clarke 2 from 3.

Rumours abound that certain members of the Fastbreak team (5 in all!) may be gong into business for themselves. It seems that after the game against the Mitcham, donuts have become so popular that talk of a possible franchise is on the way! Hmmmm, a donut shop? I think it’s been done already…how about an all you can eat ribs place? I hear tiger ribs are particularly delicious…

Anyways. Next week Fastbreak is back home hosting the Manhattan Hotel who have been having trouble fielding a full team of late. Stay tuned…

GO FASTBREAK!
