WEEK 4:   08/04/2003

Cough, cough, splutter, splutter…Oh my goodness, I knew I shouldn’t have eaten that salmon moose…sorry peoples, I have been a little too green around the gills to write the latest Sharky’s Report. But not one to shirk my duties, I have managed to pen a brief, but to the point account of the last Fastbreak match.

The venue was an old and familiar one – Rack em Up! The Breakers have been battling the Rackers since my good mate Jaws was but a wee tadpole! Indeed, the tables at Rack em Up are always a delight to play on. The kiosk on the other hand is a little less inviting – they charge for water – how rude!!

Anyways, both teams had some new faces, and it wasn’t long before the balls began to drop.

One notable display of fine cue sport artistry was our Steve (is it my shot?) Jefferies who had a spectacular 8 ball out!! Well done Steve. What was most amusing my sources tell me, was how after Steve had finished the game, his Rack Em Up opponent was a little, shall we say – annoyed. Apparently he broke the balls (with gusto) AS the Umpire was lifting the triangle off them! Hmmm some anger management may be in order there…

Our poor golden boy (give me a “M” an “A” an “R” a “C” an “O”) Marco (did I spell that right??) Peccenini finally had his winning streak disrupted. Marco was playing the Rachers captain, so not exactly an easy game. Insiders tell me that Marco was also suffering from a bad case a shaggers back? But one thing is for sure, Marco will bounce back bigger and better next week.

Justin (baby face) Rosmalen had a victory of sorts. He and Mr. Breaky finally sorted out their differences. Yes, Justin ACTUALLY kept the white ball ON the table whilst breaking (with Mr. Breaky). He also won 2 games – well done!

Der Kapitän, Craig Zammit showed what a good sport he is by fouling himself! Seems the Umpires had more important things to do than actually umpire and ummm, missed Craig foul. But being the nice guy (or idiot) that he is, is promptly informed the less than exuberant Umpires of his transgression – everyone together – “Aaawwwww”.

Our doubles teams had a little trouble this time round, but our odd couple (coz 1 has boobs and one doesn’t) Becky Fisher and Mark (Benny) Benesovski clinched the only doubles win for the night.

Finally ‘Smokin’ (metaphorically speaking) Joe Saldaneri got 2 from 3 as did our resident surgeon Jason Lowe.

Well, that’s it. I am off to be stuffed and mounted, but I WILL be back next week – so stay tuned for Fastbreak V Gully Pool Room @ Fastbreak.

PS. Although the Breakers lost against Rack em Up, they did secure 1 frame more than the previous week, and against a team traditionally as strong as the Rackers, the Breakers are on the way back up! Go Fastbreak!!
