Vs  Cranebrook

Score: Blue Mountains            3     Cranebrook                0

                        Michael Breckenridge            1

                        Scott Newton             1

                        James Beech               1

A number of positional changes allowed the team to display its depth of talent resulting in a good win over a determined Cranebrook side.

Michael Breckenridge, Scott Newton and James Beech recorded good goals with Brenton Bell unlucky to have a goal disallowed late in the second half.

Alec Hopkins took on the goalkeeper role and did a fine job.  Once again the team kept a clean sheet!

Defenders Steven Hooker, Josh Dinjar and Alexander Talbot scrapped hard against some pressing Cranebrook attacks.

Aden Heymans, Tim Finter, and Daniel McClellan gave the forwards good service.

Tom Fisher once again displayed tenacity and determination up front. It was his great through ball, after robbing the Cranebrook defenders, which set up the first goal for Michael Breckenridge. His efforts were rewarded with the Civic Video Player of the Match award. Great work Tom!

Scott Newton put away a beautiful goal after displaying a great turn of speed and ball control.

James Beech showed he is a fine all-round player and revelled in his up-front role.  He battled hard all day and scored a well deserved goal after some good lead up work from Mitchell Hunter and Tim Finter.

Despite tiring in the second half, James continued to work hard drawing much admiration from the travelling supporters.

Second-half replacements Mitchell Carter, Brenton Bell and Mitchell Hunter all contributed and kept the pressure on the Cranbrook side with wonderful strength, speed and skill.

Final score Blue Mountains 3             Cranebrook 0

Vs  Henry Lawson Soccer Club

Score:          Blue Mountains 4                                      Henry Lawson 0

                    Brenton Bell       3

                        Alex Talbot   1

A solid and hard fought win characterised by:

Very disciplined opposition defence catching our boys off-side

Strong, dependable clearances from our back four

Disappointment for Tim Finter having a goal disallowed

               Hard running from Stevie Hooker

               Another hat-trick from Brenton!

Alexander Talbot led the scoring in the 9th minute to take the side to a 1 nil half-time lead.  The Henry Lawson defenders made the mistake of not clearing the ball and ‘Zan’ took the ball off them and pushed a good shot passed the keeper.

Such was our dominance of the game that James Beech was not called upon in goals until the 20th minute.

The back four of Mitchell Carter, Aden Heymans, Michael Breckenridge and Tom Fisher were rock-steady and constantly turned around the opposition with powerful clearances.

Tim Finter, Alexander Talbot, Mitchell Hunter and Ben Hampson were great in both attack and defence and put through some excellent passes to forwards Brenton Bell and Stephen Hooker.

Unfortunately, the boys were caught off-side on at least 4 occasions, the last resulting in a disallowed goal from Tim Finter.

In the second half the opposition tired and our forwards timed their runs to perfection to beat the off-side trap.  For the second time in two weeks, Brenton scored three great goals.  The first was a well taken shot after some good passing from the backs, the second was an easy tap-in after a beautiful cross from Mitchell Hunter and the final effort came from pure skill and ball control as he weaved his way through Henry Lawson defence.  Well done Boof!

Second half substitutes Alec Hopkins, Josh Dinjar and Brendan Whyte all performed well but it was Stephen Hooker’s raids down the right flank that really kept the pressure on the opposition.  He deserved the manager’s award for effort with his determination, speed and skill.

Final score Blue Mountains 4           Henry Lawson 0

Game Report:

Round 3 Vs Springwood

Score: Blue Mtns 2 Springwood 1

A thoroughly enjoyable and exciting match where our boys came from a goal behind to win 2 – 1.

After going behind early, Tim Finter put through a great pass to Aden Heymans who calmly slotted a fine shot past the Springwood keeper to level the scores at half time.

James Beech enjoyed his time out of goals; playing in the mid-field he didn’t give an inch against determined opposition. Alec Hopkins showed great courage in goals and did a fine job despite his inexperience. Michael Breckenridge ran hard to get behind the Springwood defence and was unlucky not to score.

The second half was a battle of the mid-field. Alexander Talbot was superb, running hard all game to turn defence into attack. Helped by Tom Fisher, the boys were able to create some good opportunities with accurate passing and improved teamwork.

Scott Newton showed great speed and skill on the flanks and Mitchell Carter was as reliable as ever at the back with his strong clearances. Stevie Hooker was fast and determined and intercepted much of the Springwood attacks.

Brenton Bell’s speed and agility served the team well at the back and Josh Dinjar and Daniel McClellan pushed the Springwood boys wide to hold off their attacking raids.

But it was a fantastic solo effort from Mitchell Hunter that finally turned the game. Taking control of a bouncing ball he swept around several Springwood defenders with marvellous ball control and finished with a fine shot to score the winning goal.

Overall, a tremendous team effort and a well deserved win. Well Done!
