With increasing players it is necessary to find Managers and
Coaches to accommodate them and 1968 has seen a considerable
growth in this important aspect of our Club. There is no doubt
throughout the coming Season these new Club Officials will
present improvements and new ideas for Club Development.
CLUB DEVELOPMENT
The subject of Club development since 1967, we think you will
find of interest and briefly we set out below some comments :-
(A) SUMMER COACHING CLASS
During Sept. - Oct., 1967 the Club conducted its first Summer
Coaching Class for players under the age of 8.
Results are that the Club in 1968 is entering 1 under 6, 2
under 7 and 2 under 8 teams in the Nepean District Competitions.
Keep your eyes on their results during 1968 is the cry of one
Club Manager (naturally biased but well meant).
(B) ADMINISTRATION
Club Administration has been extended in that there are now
separate positions of Club Registrar (Mrs. Aileen Greenhough),
and a Social Games Organiser (W. Hawke), thus relieving our new
Club Secretary, Mr. Bob Lamberton, of two important tasks.
(C) COACHES
An improvement of immense value to our local lads was the
attendance, of 7 Club Managers and/or coaches during February,
1968, at a Special Soccer Coaching Course conducted by the N.S.W.
Federation of Soccer Coaches in association with Nepean District
S.F.A.
All are anxiously awaiting their results, but already at
training sessions the new found knowledge is being expounded and
players are showing improvement.
(D) GROUNDS
Grave concern was apparent amongst officials late in 1967,
that with increasing numbers of players interested in playing
Soccer so would be unable to accommodate them due to lack of
grounds and training facilities.
Discussions were held and as you now know we have been granted
use of the now Glenbrook Parks Committee for their assistance and
the amicable manner in which discussions have been conducted.
(E) PRE-SEASON SOCIAL GAMES
Introduction of Pre-season social games on a Club basis has
been introduced and we are sure all will agree, these are a
necessity and have proven beneficial.
More on this subject further on.
(F) BOOT POOL
Yes, another new development, and under Mr. John Way's
directions ably assisted by our "Ladies of the Tent",
the Second hand boot Pool has proven successful. Not only has it
catered for Players, parents pockets, but also 25 cents on each
pair assists Club Funds to acquire new equipment.
Assistance to parents in the Boot situation has also been
given by Mr. FRANK LEY and we take this opportunity of thanking
him.
IMPROVEMENT NEEDED
It is definitely a "MALES" world inside the Soccer
field but there is little doubt the Ladies are predominantly
masters of the side lines and the activities required to organise
stalls, make shirts and make sure Son gets to game on time in a
neat and tidy manner.
Without doubt 1968 needs a "Ladies Supporter's
Group" introduced to assist at Club Functions and for a
Representative to be a delegate at Club meetings.
Well Ladies are you interested, we can arrange a Hall, Meeting
time and Notices for the Meeting. All you have to do if
interested is to write down your name and address on a piece of
paper and hand to Club Manager or Official.
CLUB NOTES OF INTEREST
1. All soccer competitions commence on Saturday 6th April. No
competition games will be held Easter Weekend. Best of luck to
all teams.
2. Club socks can be obtained at Mick Simmons - Penrith.
Remember all white sock with 2 blue rings around top.
3. Any player NOT registered or not a financial member of Club
should seek out Managers and arrange. Unregistered players could
cost your team points and your Manager a FINE .
Parents, particularly for young players, your signature is
required to complete form. Please assist by attending training or
social game to sign.
4. The Club is entering 13 Teams in 1968, compared 8 teams in
the Nepean District S.F.A. competitions.
5. 1968 Club Joining and Playing Fees are as follows:
PLAYING FEES - 1968 SEASON
It has been decided at MC Meeting 19.3.68 to increase playing
fees as follows:
Junior up to and including U/16 team 25 cents Junior under 18
- NON WORKING 25 cants Junior - WORKING and 18 years and over 60
cents
It is unfortunate that fess have to be increased but the 1968
Season requires TWO (2) OVALS and TWO (2) TRAINING NIGHTS to be
paid for, We must have a new set of nets this year ($55.00 worth)
and a complete set of new balls must be purchased - Association
Costs have increased hence our Registration Fees etc. have
increased to the Association - also REFEREE FEES have increased.
It is your Club Executives job to contain these cost rises
wherever possible and only through the work of people selling
Raffle Tickets - Stalls etc. can we raise enough money to run
this club without increasing playing fees further.
PRE SEASON GAMES
This year our teams have participated in Social game, mainly
at Glenbrook Park and Jamison Park, and our Social games
organiser Wal Hawks wishes to thank all who have participated in
these days for having made the days so easy to conduct.
The co-operation of the Club Executive, Ladies of the Stall,
Managers, Players, Parents and in particular Referees has set a
very high standard to be attained in the future.
Although Wal did not wish to single out any particular
person's efforts, he has stated that all should congratulate Gary
Renshaw, Colin Nielsen and Geoff Hunter for their contribution to
the days. Thanks fellows. (N.B. All three are still in their
teams.)
Unfortunately, we are all apt to make mistakes and one was
made recently at one of our games and has come to the notice of
the Club officials.
This particular incident has to be high-lighted so that we may
all benefit and try and change our attitude on the side lines.
Once a Referre has called or made a decision HIS word is final
although this may not suit everybody.
THIS CLUB CANNOT EMPHASIZE TOO STRONGLY THAT IT STANDS BEHIND
THE DECISIONS AND/OR JUDGEMENT OF OUR DISTRICT REFEREES and would
ask ALL Team Managers - Coaches and B.M.S.C. Parents to support
THIS VIEW.
PERHAPS when circumstances give rise to criticism from the
side lines, it would be far better to approach the Referee after
the MATCH and discuss the particular ruling with him. You may
find that you will leave the ground a little Wiser about the
Rules of the game.
N.B. A vacancy due to the resignation (unfortunately) of past
Secretary Mr. Peter Clarke, exists and that is ASSISTANT
SECRETARY. Mr. R. Lamberton would be pleased to hear from you, if
interested in helping out in this situation.
