COCKATIEL

The only crested parrot.  Face yellow with orange earpatch and plain tail in males.  Female has paler face and barred abdomen and tail.  Grows to 32 cm.  Feeds on dry seeds on ground.  Ranges throughout most of Australia.  Nests in unlined hollows in trees.

GALAH

Pink and grey cockatoo which grows to 36 cm.  Usually seen in large, noisy flocks.  Nests in tree hollows which it lines with eucalypt sprigs.  Feeds on the ground.  Ranges throughout Australia and small area of Tasmania.
