KOOKABURRALarge kingfisher with dark patch behind eye and
silver-blue plumage on wings. Grows to 46 cm. Has a loud, chuckling laugh often in chorus. Nests in hollows in trees or termite mounds. Is a common resident of woodland and forests of
eastern Australia. Kookaburras will become quite tame if fed on raw meat. They often perch on power lines as a vantage point, sitting almost motionless for long periods while scanning the ground
