Kookaburra

Is a rich crimson with blue cheeks, wings and tail with back and wings mottled black.  It grows to around 32-36 cm and occurs from Cairns, Queensland to South Australia.  It is usually seen in pairs feeding either on the ground or in trees, favouring flowering eucalypts.

KOOKABURRA

Large kingfisher with dark patch behind eye and silver-blue plumage on wings.  Grows to 46 cm.  Has a loud, chuckling laugh often in chorus.  Nests in hollows in trees or termite mounds.  Is a common resident of woodland and forests of eastern Australia.  Kookaburras will become quite tame if fed on raw meat.  They often perch on power lines as a vantage point, sitting almost motionless for long periods while scanning the ground below.

Crimson Rosella

It has a fast undulating flight and the calls are varied from harsh staccato to clear whistling notes
