A quality audio, custom-made and recorded on a CD, is indispensable for every professional Bharatanatyam dancer's success.

The major problem that every professional Bharatanatyam dancer faces is that the audio accompaniment can only be provided either by a live orchestra (which is rather expensive) or by a pre-recorded sound-track that was tailor-made by the guru specifically to highlight his student's skills.

The pre-recorded audio track that most Bharatnatyam dancers use is usually recorded on an inexpensive audio cassette with an inexpensive cassette recorder during the live performances. And, if it is made in India, most likely that the musicians and the singers had very poor microphones, the sound was amplified by very poor equipment, and the poor loudspeakers distorted everything by their deafening noise.

Due to the increased popularity of the Carnatic music in South India in recent years, the musicians and singers who accompany Bharata natyam dancers are often all too busy with their own concerts. Obviously, once the accompaniment is recorded on a CD in a professional studio, the dancer will no longer be totally dependent on the orchestra.

As soon as Medha receives sufficient funds (approximately $900, or Rs.40000) to be able to afford to make at least 1-hour audio CD (ideally, she would need to record 4-5 such CDs), she will have much more freedom and opportunities as a dancer, whether she is going to participate in a dance festivals not only in India but abroad, to give more live Bharata-Natyam performances, or to make fascinating video DVDs.
