Before buying your kitten

It is always a good idea to get as much information

as possible before acquiring a kitten.

We advise purchasing only from a registered breeder,

who is friendly and helpful and can offer you a healthy

kitten from the start.

Make sure that the Cattery you intend on buying from

is clean and feel free to ask as many questions as you

like. Check that all the cats and kittens are healthy and

happy looking with smooth clean coats,  clean eyes,

ears and bottoms and free from fleas, skin lesions

ie: ring worms and anything unusual.

Berly cattery prides itself on the high standard of quality

found in our cattery and only sells healthy, happy and

great natured kittens with loving, friendly & active

personalities, guaranteed.

We only sell to good homes & therefore it is our right to

refuse any sale that is not in the best interest of

these kittens.

Before buying your kitten please consider that kittens do

grow up and there for is your responsibility throughout

their lives. They will need their  vaccination boosts yearly

and wormed regularly, treated for any signs of fleas and

also they need a proper diet so they stay healthy on the

inside as well. Your breeder should be able to advise

you on all of these matters and more.

We encourage that all kittens sold from our cattery are

to be kept solely indoors due to the high risk of road

accidents, disease and thefts (these are to name a few).

It would be very unfortunate for any thing to happen to

your new loving cat/kitten. There are alternatives so

your kitten can go outside and lay in the sun in safety.

We advise a cat run which can be anything from an

enclosed pergola, large bird aviary just about anything

that keeps them from taking off and roaming free.

Registered breeders spend a lot of time, money and love

to ensure the standard and well being of not only the

kittens but also the mother and father

(if they have their own stud). Making sure that the mother

gets rest between litters is essential for her as she must

be healthy and happy before considering her

next lot of kittens.

      What is expected of us:

All kittens that are to be placed in pet homes

are vaccinated, desexed, wormed, free from

fleas, had a vet health check, are house trained

to use a litter tray, come with pedigree papers

and a booklet containing more information and

helpful hints. And the kitten has a happy &

friendly personality.

Pet kittens are de-sexed before they leave our cattery.

We only sell breeding cats to known registered breeders

who, like us are breeding to improve the standard of this

breed and have a reputation in doing so. This shows

responsible cat ownership and is not negotiable

with Berly cattery.

Un- de-sexed male cats will spray pungent urine to mark

out their territory both indoors and out.

If they are to be let outside they can wonder off  mating

any girl they can get hold of, which can lead to diseases

and/or unwanted cross breed kittens. They are a

nuisance to neighbours by marking their territory &

urinating on their property. Un-desexed females when on

heat cry out loudly and persistently & females are also

known to spray. So desexing your kitten will be good

for it’s sanity as well as your own.

Before you commit yourself into a life long decision be

sure that you have the time, love and patience and that

you find the breed that is best suited for you.

Siamese, Balinese and Orientals are demanding they

are highly intelligent and love to talk, can be taught

tricks like fetching their favorite toy and can walk

on a lead ( if you teach them from a young age).

These cats like to be the center of attention, be

around their owners as they don't want to miss out

on anything. They seek lots of attention, love and

affection and in return they will be your loyal, loving

companion for many happy years.

Some of the things you may need prior to collecting your kitten.

  1. Carry box to collect your kitten.

  2. Bowl for food and water.

  3. Scratching post to sharpen their claws.

  4. Bedding, although they will probably take over your bed.

  5. Pet brush for long hairs and mitt for short hairs.

  6. Nail Clippers, human clippers are best, we found.

  7. Litter tray with litter.

  8. As many toys as you like.

Suggestion: Before buying food, find out their diet

from your breeder as a fast change in their diet may

lead to upset tummies.

Good Luck and we hope you find the kitten you are

searching for.

Sincerely Berly Cattery.
