13dec05 Secretary's Busselton Triumph: Sorry SloanyIt is with deep regret that your correspondent apologises for omitting from the previous Busselton report the triumphant return to distance tri racing of our very own Craig Sloan, who took apart the Busselton ironman course in 10:40:44. Well done Craig!!13dec05 Canberra Half Ironman Tri Results: Including Leon's Win, Bendigo Results and GossipLocal boy Leon Griffin took the Canberra Half ironman Tri by the throat, winning by a huge margin last Sunday. In great conditions last Sunday Leon powered away on the bike leg and won by over 8 minutes. There were a number of Bendigo Tri Club members who also tackled the course which consisted of a swim in Lake Burley Griffin, a bike course with almost no flat sections but plenty of hills and turns and a run along the lake. The swim around the famous long pier was choppy, the ride and run windy. In a hot field of nationals and international stars, David Meade was ninth across the line in 8:48:46. Also making the trek and competing were Jason Sim 61st overall in 10:11:11 and Justin Lee in his first full ironman 212th (of over 550) in 11:34:32. Congratulations to you all.25nov05 Bendigo Triathletes at Sherpparton Half IronmanEarlier this month, several club members took on hte challenge of the Shepparton half Ironman. Congratulations to first timers Jennie Jones and Russell Tremayne in not only completing the course but also recording good times. Others to compete were: Rick Jackel (2nd in age group), Kevin Walsh, Scott Foreman, Roy Preece and Sally Murray (hope I haven't left anyone out). Thanks also to the cheer squad: Dave Perris and family, Glenn and Renee, and other family members who made the effort to support us.Bendigo Does Well at MeningieFrom the official press release, "Sparkling bike performances were the order of the day at the Meningie South Australian 1/2 Ironman. Victorian David Meade continued his preparation for Ironman WA with another impressive performance. He took the lead with his usual powerful bike leg and held off duelling local hopes Scott Green and Matt Stephen on the run." Congratulations David on another impressive win. We heard it was a very tough half ironman, particularly coming home into the wind on the bike. David's time was 4:06:21 Jason Sim also competed, finishing 13th overall in 4:39:28 thanks to strong bike and run legs - well done Jason and like David on track for Busselton.Frank Scarce 11th in Age Group at HawaiiA brilliant effort to finish this gruelling event in just over 10 hours. All the hard work was worth it.
