Mothers were invited to join the Cub Pack meeting to celebrate Mother's Day. The meeting finished with a sing along around an indoor campfire
while the Cubs server cake and coffee to their Mums.

All sections attend the Region Gathering camp at Cataract Scout Park, Appin.
The Cub Pack met Graeme Fordham, Chief Commissioner NSW, and he was
interested to hear what the Cubs had been doing at the camp and was impressed by

The Scouts enjoyed the adventurous activities, but did not like the cold, wet
weather.

Rikki did an interesting knotting program where the Cub Scouts
learned how to tie a square lashing knot and then used that knot to build racing
chariots.

Scouts cook dinner and enjoy fine chocolate for dessert.

Kotick invited some of her friends along tonight to demonstrate medieval
fighting techniques. They had some impressive hardware and when the
demonstration began they put a lot of effort into making it seem very
realistic.

After ten years with the Cub Pack from May/1995 and eight years in the
'Akela' role from Feb/1997, Akela leaves Cub Pack and goes up to the Scout Troop.
After presenting his last
Cub badges and performing his last Grand How, Akela was presented with a framed
Group scarf signed by past and present Cub Scouts, then the Cubs carried Akela out
of the Pack and handed him over to the Scout Troop.

Gav left the Scout Troop tonight to begin a two-year adventure
of a lifetime with plans to tour Europe from a base in London. He departed
with the Australian contingent to EuroJam, held in Chelmsford, near
London from 29/7 to 10/8, where he will mix with 10,000 participants from 67
countries. Gav is the first Leader who joined our Group as a youth member and
progressed through all the youth sections and continued as an adult Leader.
His enthusiasm for Scouting and his friendship will be missed and we wish him
a safe adventure and look forward to his return.

Cubs and Scouts participate in 11th annual 1st Caringbah Challenge Rogaine at Camp Coutts, Waterfall.

Cubs and Scouts enjoy cooking damper twists for lunch.

Some teams pushed themselves hard to compete seriously, while others took it
easy, but all had fun and enjoyed a great day of outdoor Scouting while
practicing their map reading and navigation skills. The event finished with
certificate presentations followed by lunch around the camp fire.
Teams from our Group are marked with a red dot on the score board at left.
Our Cub team, #7,
scored the equal second
highest points; what a mighty effort Cubs!

The Scouts enjoyed the challenge to get their Patrol 1m off

Scouts go on Pioneer level hike through the Woronora valley and via Price's
Cave to Sutherland and return.

Scout Troop enjoys a golf night. The Lucas Heights golf driving range was invaded
by the Scout Troop for a farewell party for the senior Scouts. After
attempting to hit 100 balls each we said farewell to Josh, Blake, James,
Chris and Kirri.

Water Safety night for Scout Troop. This term the Troop had been working
through the requirements for the Water Safety target badge and this project
culminated in an outing to the Sutherland Leisure Centre tonight to perform
the water safety tests.
