Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) is an annual global Scouting event that our Group likes to participate in to explore our local area and enjoy an afternoon out for good exercise and good company. This year a group of 32 people including Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers and parents walked about 5km in a circuitous path that started at our Scout hall and followed some streets and fire trails before descending into the Woronora River valley. We enjoyed afternoon tea beside the river while some got wet on a glorious sunny afternoon. We crossed the river and climbed up to the high level bridge to return to our Scout hall. Thanks to the families that joined in for a good afternoon walk.

From the fire trail near the end of Koorabar Rd the trail drops steeply between some large boulders and then gently slopes down the fern-clad mountain side.

Ben's account:

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon. We met at the Scout hall and then we set off on our walk. We walked along the street until we got to Akuna Avenue. Then we walked through the bush. We followed a trail that was rocky and sandy. We saw a dead Red Belly Black snake. We also put charcoal on our faces and looked tribal. It was a long walk because there were lots of large steps to walk (climb) down and up. The bush trail brought us out at Prices Circuit. We walked along Prices Circuit until we got to the park where we had afternoon tea. We all stood in the river except for me who fell in the river and Mum saved the day when she called Dad to bring a spare pair of clothes down so I could get changed. Then we walked along the old Woronora Bridge and then we walked across the road to the steps. So we walked up all the stairs until we got to the new Woronora bridge. We then walked across the bridge and walked back to the Scout hall. Once we got back to the Scout hall we all went home either walking or driving. Of course Mum drove me home like a good Mummy.
