ALASKAN MALAMUTE SOCIAL CLUB
(QLD)
INC
The
Alaskan Malamute Social Club of Queensland was formed in 1994 and holds formal
meetings every two months.
Our goal is the preservation and betterment of the breed within our
state.
Membership is open to anyone who is concerned with preserving the
magnificence of the breed, and all Club members have an obligation to the
Club’s stated goals.
Our members include many breeders and dog showers as well as pet owners.
In
accordance with the aims stated above, the Alaskan Malamute Social Club of
Queensland has adopted the Canine Control Council (Queensland) Code of Ethics,
and states that violation of any provision hereof by a member could constitute
grounds for suspension of membership or expulsion from the Club:
1. I
shall ensure that at all times all dogs under my control are properly contained
within a fenced area or suitable enclosure, properly housed, fed, watered,
exercised and receive proper veterinary attention, if and where required.
2. I
shall not allow any dogs under my care to roam at large and when away from home
ensure they are kept fully leashed, or under
effective control, at all times.
3. I
shall breed only for the purpose of improving the standard of the breed, and not
specifically for the pet market or any other commercial purpose, yet I retain
the right of free trade to directly advertise and sell dogs not retained by me
for line maintenance purposes and I undertake to ensure that all progeny are
registered and transfers to the new owner are completed promptly.
4. I
shall not breed from any bitch kept or owned by me causing it to whelp before it
is twelve months of age.
5. I
shall not permit any of my pure-bred dogs to be mated to a dog of a different
breed, to a cross-bred or to an unregistered dog of the same breed.
6. I
shall not sell or otherwise transfer from my care any puppy under eight weeks of
age, thus allowing for vaccination to be given at six weeks of age and the
necessary fourteen days to take effect, and I will cause all vaccinations to be
done using live virus vaccine.
7. I
shall ensure that all persons acquiring dogs from me clearly understand their
responsibility for the care and welfare of the animal, as defined in 1 and 2
above.
8. I
shall provide to all purchasers of dogs sold or placed by me, written details of
all dietary and immunization requirements and/or an appropriate publication
relating such requirements and responsible dog ownership.
9. I
shall not knowingly dispose of any dog either by sale, commission or on
consignment to commercial dog wholesalers or retail pet dealers in Australia or
overseas not directly or indirectly give a dog as a prize or donation in any
contest or raffle of any kind.
10. I
shall not knowingly misrepresent the characteristics of the breed, nor falsely
advertise, or mislead any person regarding the performance of this dog.
11. This
Code of Ethics will be accepted and complied with in conjunction with and in
addition to, all current Rules of the C.C.C..
(Canine Control Council (Queensland) Rules, 1996)
Areas
of interest the Club pursues include: conformation,
backpacking, weight-pull, genetics and health.
The Club offers a Working Dog Certification program including backpacking

addition, the Club arranges a number of social events for Club members and their
dogs throughout the year to promote healthy dog socialization and the sharing of
information between members.

Club publishes a quarterly newsletter (Mallie Tales). The newsletter is free upon membership and contains

and obedience, humorous and personal anecdotes as well as available show
results.
