Our Club and our Aims

.               A.C.T. Fly Fishers was founded in 1978 by a group of enthusiasts to cater for the needs and interests of fly fishers in the ACT and surrounding region.  The level of skills possessed by members range from absolute beginners to proficient fly fishers.

.               By increasing knowledge of the many and diverse aspects of the art of fly-fishing, the club aims to enhance its members' enjoyment of their sport.  Developments that may affect the quality of trout fishing in local waters are monitored and watched closely by the club's council and interested members.

Meetings

.               We meet at the Deakin Sports Club, Grosse St Deakin.>.  Social meetings (often with a guest speaker) are on the 1st Thursday of each month.  Activities nights (generally dedicated to fly-tying, tuition and the like) are on the 3rd Thursday of the month.

.               The club’s business is dealt with by the Council, which meets on the second Thursday of the month.  Members are welcome to attend.  A summary of the Minutes of the Council meetings is published in the newsletter and members are encouraged and expected to contribute to club policy and activities planning.
