ACT Fly Casting Competitions 2008

ACT Fly Casting Competitions 2008 In 2008, the ACT Flyfishers Club is involved in the organisation of two fly casting competitions: • The Brunn Shield • The Pro Angler/ACT Fly Fishers Casting Championship (“PA/Club Comp) The Brunn Shield is run on an Australia-wide basis by the Australian Casting Federation (ACF); events are held simultaneously at various venues around the country on the first Sunday of the month in May, June, July and August and our club administers the events held in Canberra. The PA/Club Comp is to be organised in conjunction with the Brunn Shield. However, so that the PA/Club Comp also includes distance events, each of the Brunn Shield rounds will be supplemented with an ACT FF Club organized distance event that will be held at the same time and place, but that will be outside the competition organised by the ACF. These distance events will be restricted to standard gear, so that those without tournament rods will not be at a disadvantage in the PA/Club Comp. The PA/Club Comp will be decided on the best three scores in the four supplemented Brunn Shield rounds. Someone who misses one of the four rounds, for whatever reason, will still be in with a chance of winning. The precise rules are set out below. PA/Club Comp: Each competitor’s score in the PA/Club Comp (possible 900 points) will be his or her three best scores in the four rounds specified below. Details of the individual events (dry, skish, wet etc.) can be found on the ‘casting rules’ page of the ACTFF web site.
