JIKA REPORT 2003
2003 saw the inclusion of the 15/under at the state regional championships. Each region was only allowed to enter 4 of the 5 age groups. Jika decided to go with our usual ages, which included 17/under, 19/under, open and masters. It was only after a lack of interest from the masters that we took on the very difficult task of sorting through the 100 very eager 15/under’s. The championships were contested in Shepparton, with our four teams all finishing middle of the field.
Jika’ s annual tournament for the third year in a row was held at Diamond Creek, this year saw a record number of entries - 43 in total. This was a very successful day, we received a huge amount of positive feedback. A huge thanks goes to Helen Hansen, Sue Taylor, Barb Prestigiacomo and all others who helped to make the day run smoothly.
Finally, 2003 saw Jika’s state commissioner Beverly Littlechild nominate Roger Pike for a Netball Victoria Distinction Award. It was great to see Roger win this award and gain the recognition deserved for all the time and effort he has put in over a number of years. CONRATULATIONS ROGER!!!!!!
